Clinician Support

The Relational Health Center collaborates with the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center to offer support for clinicians through the Child Psychiatry Access Network (CPAN). Primary care providers statewide can access CPAN for assistance with behavioral health care for their patients who are children and adolescents.

Mental health can affect a child’s experience and behavior at home, in school and in social situations. Our Relational Health Center clinicians are well trained in diagnosis and treatment options to help address many mental health concerns.

We treat:

  • Adjustment difficulties associated with medical conditions
  • Anxiety disorders
  • Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
  • Bipolar disorder

  • Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)
  • Panic attacks and panic disorder
  • Phobias
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Psychosis
  • Suicidal or homicidal thoughts

It can be hard to know which treatment your child needs for the symptoms they’re experiencing. Our clinicians offer a variety of treatment modalities, including evidence-based therapies and medication management.

Our treatment options include:

  • Intensive outpatient care
  • Medication management
  • One-time diagnostic assessment in collaboration with your pediatrician
  • Outpatient therapy
  • Partial hospitalization services
  • Telehealth treatment at school

Our Programs

The amount of support a child needs can change over time. The Relational Health Center offers a wide range of outpatient and hospital-based mental health programs to support you and your loved ones.

Our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is hospital-based day treatment for children who are 10 to 17 years old. The therapist-led program provides children with intensive therapeutic treatment five days a week.

The Partial Hospitalization Program is for children who:

  • Are at risk of being hospitalized for inpatient treatment
  • Have been hospitalized for inpatient treatment and are now moving to our Partial Hospitalization Program

To enroll a child, parents or guardians provide a history of the child’s mental and physical health. Next, we work with the parent or guardian’s insurance company to obtain authorization. This can take one to 10 days depending on the insurance company’s response.

After insurance approval, the Behavioral and Emotional Skills Training (BEST) department schedules the start date and location and determines the hours and number of days your child will attend.

The services we provide include:

  • Family therapy
  • Group therapy sessions run by a licensed therapist
  • Individual therapy
  • Medication management appointments with a psychiatrist

Children bring their own lunch and eat together.

Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is a hospital-based program led by therapists. It provides intensive therapeutic treatment for youth ages 10 to 17, three days a week.

The Intensive Outpatient Program is for youth who:

  • Require more intensive care than outpatient services alone
  • Have been in our Partial Hospitalization Program and are moving to less intensive therapy

The Relational Health Center collaborates with Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center to provide school-based telehealth services through the Texas Child Health Access Through Telemedicine (TCHATT) program. TCHATT assists in counseling and telepsychiatry for Texas students across west Texas and eastern New Mexico. Appointments are held virtually and scheduled during school hours. Contact your child’s school counselor for a referral to the program.
