Our Approach

At Providence Stewart Meadows Sports Medicine, we’re proud to care for active individuals and athletes of all ages that are experiencing a sports-related or musculoskeletal injury or condition. Whether you’re a weekend warrior, a student athlete, a busy grandparent or participating in recreational or competitive sports, our goal is to keep you moving with confidence.

Our team includes fellowship-trained sports medicine specialists and board-certified orthopedic surgeons who offer both surgical procedures, such as total knee replacement, and non-surgical treatment options, like ultrasound-guided joint injections.

As part of the integrated Providence health system, we work seamlessly with primary care physicians, physical therapists, orthopedists and laboratory and imaging services to keep you active or help you return to sports after an injury.

If you’ve been experiencing an injury from a workout or dealing with long-term pain and discomfort from overuse, our sports medicine team is here to help with your recovery. We treat a wide range of injuries and conditions, whether they’re acute or chronic.

Acute injuries

Acute injuries typically happen quickly during a high-impact or contact sport. This can look like spraining an ankle after a rough landing or tearing a tendon during a soccer game.

Some acute injuries we treat are:

  • Broken bones, if not severely displaced
  • Dislocations
  • Fractures and stress fractures
  • Joint injuries
  • Sprains, strains, tears to muscles, tendons or ligaments – if new or recent
  • Sports concussions, post-concussion syndrome
Chronic/overuse injuries

Chronic, or overuse, injuries develop when a specific movement is repeatedly made, causing potential long-term stress injuries. Examples of overuse include carpal tunnel or tennis elbow.

Some chronic injuries we treat include:

  • Chronic exertional compartment syndrome
  • Female athlete triad
  • Joint arthritis in the hip, shoulder, knee, etc.
  • Little league elbow
  • Non-operative orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions
  • Pinched nerves, such as:
    • Carpal tunnel syndrome in your wrist
    • Cubital tunnel syndrome in your elbow
    • Lateral femoral cutaneous nerve syndrome in your hip
    • Pronator syndrome in your forearm
    • Posterior interosseous nerve syndrome in your radial nerve
    • Tarsal tunnel syndrome in your ankle
  • Shin splints
  • Sprains, strains, tears to muscles, tendons or ligaments – if chronic or lingering
  • Stress fractures
  • Tendinitis

If your condition isn’t listed, please give us a call to see how we can support your sports medicine needs.
