Providence's Orest Holubec tapped to lead Catholic Health Association Board
RENTON, Wash. [June 16, 2025] — Providence, one of the nation’s leading health care systems, today announced that Orest Holubec, chief of mission experience, will begin on July 1 his appointment as chairperson of the Catholic Health Association’s (CHA) Board of Trustees for 2025-26. The CHA chair role is a one-year commitment.
“I’m honored to serve as chair of the Catholic Health Association USA. As the people of Catholic health care, we are called to put into practice the recognition of everyone’s equal and inherent human dignity, and I am committed to doing my best to shepherd our collective calling in these turbulent times,” Holubec said. “May we continue to seek out and serve those in the margins who need us most.”
Established in 1915, the CHA serves to advance the Catholic health ministry of the United States in caring for people and communities. Comprising more than 650 hospitals and 1,600 long-term care and other health facilities in all 50 states, the Catholic health ministry is the largest group of nonprofit health care providers in the nation.
“Orest brings a deep reverence for our Catholic identity and a clear commitment to advancing the healing mission of the Church,” said Sr. Mary Haddad, CHA president and CEO. “CHA and our members look forward to working with Orest as we advance our vision to empower bold change to elevate human flourishing.”
Holubec has been in Catholic health care for 20 years, first with Catholic Health Partners (now Bon Secours Mercy Health) in Ohio before joining Providence as chief communication officer in 2010. He transitioned in January into his current role as chief of mission experience. In this role, he oversees Providence's community health infrastructure and reporting. He also works to ensure Providence’s Mission, values and Catholic identity of its founding congregations are deeply felt by caregivers and integrated into culture, strategy and operations across the health system’s shared services.
