Thank you for considering a volunteer role at Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital. We offer many opportunities for you to get involved and donate your time and talents to our patients, including:
- Greeting or escorting visitors
- Helping in a support department
- Providing companionship to patients
- Selling items in the gift shop
Volunteers make a real difference and a measurable contribution to the quality of our hospital team and to the experience of the patients we serve.
To help us support the continuity of services for our patients, we ask our volunteers to:
- Be at least 16 years old
- Commit to at least 6 months of service if there is a placement match
- Complete volunteer orientation
- Obtain a TB test
Specific shift requirements vary, but the typical range is from 2-4 hours per week.

Hospice
Our hospice volunteers are an important presence to patients and their loved ones, offering:
- Comfort and emotional reassurance
- One-on-one companionship
- Short breaks that provide relief for caregivers
In addition to building personal connections, hospice volunteers also contribute in other meaningful ways, including:
- Assisting with office tasks
- Listening attentively at the bereavement support group
- Participating in community and special events
- Providing support in the children’s grief group
