Providence Pediatric Orthopedics - St. Vincent
Providence Pediatric Orthopedics - St. Vincent
Our Approach
Providence Pediatric Orthopedics - St. Vincent, in collaboration with Shriners Children’s Portland, aims to provide the best orthopedic care possible for every patient we treat – from infancy to age 18. Our pediatric-trained specialists are available to treat common pediatric orthopedic conditions, including conditions that children are born with and injuries.
To provide the best care possible, we offer:
- A clinic designed with children, families and caregivers in mind
- A care team trained to honor the “Pediatric Comfort Promise,” focusing on strategies to help decrease the pain and discomfort of all children in our care
- Surgeries and procedures at the Gerry Frank Center for Children’s Care, which is staffed with pediatric anesthesiologists and child life specialists
All our providers are trained in pediatrics, meaning we know how to care for children and families. We treat all patients like they’re our own children.
From strains and sprains to fractures and sports injuries, we know how to support children’s bones, muscles and joints as they grow. We’re here to answer your questions about the conditions your child has as well as any recommended surgeries or other procedures.
For life-threatening issues, please call 911 or go to the Emergency Room.
We diagnose and treat common and complex childhood orthopedic conditions, including:
- Clubfoot
- Fractures
- Hip conditions

Frequently Asked Questions
Children’s bones are softer and more flexible, which makes them less likely to break.
They also have growth plates at the ends of their long bones. Fractures that involve long bones require careful management to ensure full recovery, which our teams are trained to provide.
When you arrive at the clinic, our friendly front desk staff are there to greet you. After you check in, a medical assistant or nurse takes you to your private exam room, where a physician or physician associate meets with you to review your child’s medical history and current symptoms.
If possible, we review any imaging that has been done at another facility. We may need to obtain imaging if it hasn’t been done yet, or if additional imaging is required. Imaging is available onsite.
Based on the information you provide, as well as any completed studies, we provide a working diagnosis. At the end of the visit, you leave the clinic with a care plan that’s designed to get your child back to doing what they love. We help you schedule any follow-up appointments, surgeries or procedures as needed.
You don’t need a referral to make an appointment at our clinic, though a referral can sometimes help us better understand the referring provider’s concerns.
If we receive a referral from your provider, our goal is to reach out to you within 24-48 hours to schedule an appointment.
