Diagnostic Imaging at Providence St. Mary Medical Center
Diagnostic Imaging at Providence St. Mary Medical Center
Our Approach
At Providence St. Mary Medical Center Diagnostic Imaging, we never forget there’s a person behind every medical imaging test. We do everything we can to make the experience as comfortable and convenient for you as possible – even offering limited mammography appointments on Saturdays.
Our state-of-the-art imaging services allow doctors to observe how your body systems are operating and diagnose medical conditions. For example, we offer 3D tomosynthesis digital mammography – the most advanced technology for breast cancer screening.
For your convenience, we provide forms to request copies of your diagnostic images:
- Use the Imaging Records Release Form if you’d like your diagnostic imaging data and reports released to another medical facility.
- Use the Imaging Records Pick-Up Form to authorize someone else to pick up your diagnostic imaging data and reports.
Our Services
We offer a wide array of diagnostic imaging services, including:
-
Breast Biopsy
Ultrasound-guided and stereotactic breast biopsies allow doctors to evaluate potential breast cancers and provide precise diagnoses and treatment. The tissue is extracted and examined by specialists to determine the presence or cause of a disease.
-
Computerized Tomography Scan (CAT/CT)
CT scans use a combination of X-rays and computer technology to produce clear images of the body. Our services also include low-dose CT lung cancer screenings and coronary calcium scans to help evaluate calcium deposits that may have collected in the heart’s arteries.
-
Electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG)
Echocardiography uses ultrasound to produce detailed images of the heart’s valve and chambers. Through a monitor, your doctor can evaluate how the heart is pumping blood in real-time.
-
Imaging
Diagnostic or medical imaging is a powerful tool to help doctors diagnose a condition and plan treatment.
-
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
An MRI is an advanced digital imaging method that uses a harmless magnetic field and radio waves to produce detailed pictures of the body. We also offer breast MRI.
-
Mammography
Mammograms are one of the most important tools doctors have in breast cancer prevention and early detection. Our services also include 3D mammography, which is similar to getting a standard 2D mammogram, except that the X-ray takes more images and combines them to create a clearer, three-dimensional view of the breast.
-
Positron Emission Tomography (PET)
A PET scan is a nuclear imaging procedure that uses a combination of computer technology, and a radioactive imaging agent called a tracer to produce clear, high-resolution images of the body and its various functions in real-time and in 3D.
-
Spect Brain DaTscan
A Spect Brain DaTscan is a nuclear imaging test that allows doctors to view the brain’s dopamine levels and determine whether the brain’s neurons have degenerated. This gives physicians the ability to quickly and accurately diagnose Parkinsonian syndromes in patients.
-
Ultrasound
This non-invasive procedure is one of the most widely used diagnostic imaging procedures in modern medicine. We also offer breast ultrasound.
-
X-ray
An X-ray is a diagnostic procedure that uses invisible beams of energy to produce images of the body’s internal structures, such as tissues, organs and bones.
In addition to the services above, we offer fluoroscopy – a special X-ray technique that allows your physician to get a clearly defined view of your internal organs in motion. Still images are also captured and stored electronically. Fluoroscopy studies do require some preparation and must be scheduled in advance.
We also offer contrast enhanced diagnostic mammography, which uses medical imaging contrast to help evaluate breast abnormalities, like lesions or tumors. Currently, this procedure requires a radiologist’s recommendation.
