Covenant Health Invests More Than $80 Million in Health Equity in 2024

In 2024, Covenant Health invested more than $81 million in community health programs and initiatives across West Texas and eastern New Mexico—advancing our mission to serve all, especially those who are poor and vulnerable.

This investment reflects our deep commitment to reducing health disparities and improving access to care through strategic outreach, partnerships, and services that meet the unique needs of our region’s most underserved populations.

The Annual Report to Our Communities allows us to share exactly how financially support this mission throughout our communities:

  • $5.6 million was given to community health improvement and strategic partnerships
  • $11 million was given to health professions education and research
  • $319,000 was given to subsidized health services
  • $50.6 million was given to free and discounted care for the uninsured and underinsured
  • $13.9 million was given to unpaid cost of Medicaid means-tested government programs

We are honored to serve our communities and deeply grateful for the partnerships that help us expand access to life-changing care,” Providence Regional Chief Executive for Texas/New Mexico Walter Cathey said. “Together, we are making a lasting impact—supporting recovery, improving health outcomes, and building a healthier future for all.”

Building on this commitment, Covenant Health Community Outreach launched the Diabetes and Prediabetes Program in 2022 to address health inequities and improve outcomes for individuals living with or at risk for diabetes. This free program empowers participants through education and lifestyle support tailored to their needs.

Recognizing the growing challenge of substance use in the region, Covenant Health Hobbs also partnered with the Palmer Drug Abuse Program to expand access to free, essential services for individuals affected by substance use further demonstrating our dedication to meeting community needs through strategic collaboration.

As we look ahead, Covenant Health remains focused on creating lasting change—investing in programs that not only treat illness but also strengthen the well-being of every community we serve.
