Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center unveils advanced robotic surgical suite for minimally invasive brain and spine procedures
Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center has introduced a leading-edge robotic surgical system, empowering surgeons with even greater precision, efficiency and safety in brain and spine procedures.
With the newly acquired Medtronic AiBLETM surgical suite system, surgeons can map the surgical procedure before stepping into the operating room and adjust the plan with real-time data based on the imaging and robotic guidance.
“The new intraoperative system offers unprecedented precision,” says Corey Walker, M.D., PCSTMC neurosurgery medical director. “Surgeons can now access real-time 3D imaging, enabling them to pinpoint issues and place hardware with remarkable accuracy.”
Although primarily used for spine procedures, this technology can also be used to remove brain tumors where the smallest amount of movement can have a significant impact on a patient.
What are the benefits?
-
- Enhanced accuracy and fewer complications: Real-time imaging and robotic guidance assists in precise implant placement, optimizing minimally invasive surgeries with flexibility and accuracy.
- Lower radiation exposure: Imaging can occur during the surgical procedure thus reducing radiation for both patients and surgical teams.
- Minimally invasive procedures: Smaller incisions lead to less discomfort and quicker patient recovery.
“We remain steadfast in our commitment to excellence by investing in advanced technology and enhancing patient care,” said PCSTMC Chief Executive Nick Lymberopoulos. “The addition of the surgical suite system empowers our physicians to provide highest quality and innovative treatment options for our patients.”
Since 2015, PCSTMC has had one of the highest-volume robotic surgery programs in the San Fernando Valley with over 800 cases a year utilizing the Vinci XI system, Intuitive Ion and additional total joint robotic surgery platforms.
