Critical Access: Transforming Polson’s Health Care
With the help of donors, work is underway to enhance Providence St. Joseph Medical Center. It’s our goal to expand access and ensure exceptional care is available close to home throughout the Flathead and Mission Valleys – now and for generations to come.
This multiple-phase campus transformation will provide:
- Brand-new rural health clinic to break down barriers, increase access and build trust with continuity of care close to home
- Cutting-edge MRI suite inside the hospital, designed to elevate the patient experience and enhance diagnostic capabilities
- Reimagined emergency room, built to respond to urgent needs with safety, speed and compassion and focus on the rising need for behavioral health and substance use support

Volunteer
Our hospital volunteers support our patients, visitors and staff by:
- Delivering flowers and gifts to patient rooms
- Lending a caring hand where needed
- Staffing gift shops
We’ll match your skills and interests with the position that you’ll find most fulfilling. Every volunteer makes a difference in the lives of our patients and directly supports our mission and values.
Patient safety and satisfaction is important to us, so before a hospital volunteering position begins, all recruits must pass a background check and drug analysis. They must also attend orientation to understand our heritage, mission and values. Our volunteers play an integral role in caring for our patients, which is why we train all volunteers for their job.
Depending on the volunteer position, specific hours and schedules must be followed.

Community Events
Providence St. Joseph Medical Center is committed to serving our local community and western Montana. We offer many community events throughout the year including education for patients, support groups and participation in many local events. Our Foundation also raises funds to support our community and hospital.
