Here at Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center San Pedro Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, we’re committed to providing you with the care and tools that you need to achieve your rehabilitation goals.

We offer targeted programs that are designed to address physical and neurological challenges, like hand rehabilitation or stroke recovery. Our Center for Optimal Aging addresses the unique needs for age-related care, including identifying risk factors or areas of focus.

Our licensed therapists specialize in physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. We’ll partner with you to develop a treatment plan that helps you reach specific milestones, restores mobility and strength and prevents future injuries.

Specialized Programs for Enhanced Independence

Our programs are uniquely designed to meet the diverse needs of our patients. Each initiative focuses on increasing patient recovery through expert guidance.

We offer two programs that are designed to enhance the functional mobility and verbal communication of patients with Parkinson’s disease or other neurological conditions.

Our Big and Loud program is a modified version of the Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT®) BIG and LOUD techniques. We offer this twice weekly to improve both movement and speech.

PWR!Moves consists of exercises that target motor skills that decline with Parkinson’s disease. The PWR!Moves program helps patients reduce their symptoms while also restoring their mobility.

Our physical, occupational and speech therapists are trained to provide assessments and advanced treatment for patients with Parkinson’s disease or other neurological disorders.

Center for Optimal Aging is an outpatient center that features a multidisciplinary assessment team focused on older adults. Together, they develop a personalized care plan for both patients and their caregivers to help address specific needs.

These specific needs could include:

  • Balance assessments
  • Cognitive performance
  • Medication use
  • Mobility challenges
  • Nutritional guidance
  • Performance of activities of daily living
  • Range of motion
  • Social connectivity

Our comprehensive driver rehabilitation program helps individuals that need specific skill-building, modifications or practice return to independent driving safely after an injury, illness or age-related change.

Driver rehabilitation is an on and off-road assessment and training program designed to help individuals return to independent driving.

The off-road assessment includes:

  • Cognitive screening
  • Perception and reaction evaluation
  • Physical and range of motion examination
  • Visual accuracy screening

The on-road assessment is performed with a specialist in a dual-controlled car. This evaluation assesses the individual’s ability to safely operate a car and any potential areas of improvement.

Typically, this program isn’t covered by insurance.

Our outpatient lymphedema program provides targeted care for individuals experiencing swelling caused by lymphatic system dysfunction, often related to cancer treatment, surgery or chronic conditions.

Program features and services include:

  • Comprehensive evaluation and treatment plan
  • Compression therapy with bandages and/or garments
  • Manual lymphatic drainage techniques
  • Patient and caregiver education on both risk prevention and skin care
  • Therapeutic exercises

  • Decreased risk of infection
  • Improved daily function
  • Reduced swelling

The neurological recovery program helps individuals recover from a stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury or other neurological condition through a personalized treatment plan.

After an evaluation, our therapists help the patient with exercises that empower them to maximize their recovery, enhance quality of life and reach their personal goals in a supportive setting.

Treatment may include:

  • Activities of daily living
  • Balance and gait training
  • Cognitive and communication therapy
  • Strength and mobility rehabilitation

The Outpatient Rehabilitation Center is located at 1300 W 7th Street, on the third floor of the Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center San Pedro.

As you exit the east elevators on the third floor, the department will be straight ahead.

Yes, you do need a referral before scheduling an appointment with us.

  • If you have a primary care doctor, they can send us a referral for you.
  • If you don’t have a primary care doctor right now, you can search our physician directory.

Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment to fill out the necessary paperwork.

Your initial visit will last between 45-60 minutes. We’ll discuss your medical history, any specific concerns or impairments and the functional goals for therapy.

Dress in comfortable clothing and be prepared to participate in basic movement assessments and exercises during the initial visit evaluation.

Please bring the following to each appointment:

  • Your photo ID and insurance card 
  • Co-payment, if required by your insurance plan 
  • Comfortable clothing you can easily move in 

Yes, Providence Little Company of Mary San Pedro has several support groups and support services options for patients and their loved ones to utilize.

  • Love on 4 Paws – A Los Angeles non-profit organization operated by volunteers that provides animal-assisted therapy. Love on 4 Paws regularly visits our inpatient Acute Rehabilitation Center and Outpatient Rehabilitation Center with their certified therapy dogs. We believe in the emotional healing power of laughter and witness firsthand how animal-assisted therapy enhances recovery.
  • Stroke and brain injury support group – This free support group provides an environment for sharing experiences following a stroke or brain injury. For more details, contact the Outpatient Rehabilitation Center at the number above.
  • Breast cancer support group – Facilitated by the Cancer Support Community South Bay in Redondo Beach, this group is for women diagnosed with breast cancer.
