The Providence Promise of “Know me, care for me, ease my way” doesn’t stop with meeting the patient’s health needs. It means making sure the patient’s overall needs are met as well. That can include connecting the patient with needed community resources and helping the patient establish insurance coverage when eligible.

Jamal Oubane and his wife moved to Redmond, Washington in 2021. Working for a restaurant in 2024, his job didn’t qualify him for insurance coverage and his wife needed extra care for her pregnancy.

Cantrell Jones, lead patient financial counselor, Providence Swedish, worked with the Oubanes to secure medical coverage for his wife.. He assisted the family as they enrolled their child on Medicaid and now has helped his wife re-enroll on Medicaid.

“He helped me understand my Medicaid coverage and ensured my care was fully covered,” Jamal said of Cantrell’s help. “Without Providence Swedish, I likely would have faced more difficulties with delayed care and higher costs.

Today, medical care isn’t something that Jamal and his family worry about.

I feel more at ease, with my health managed and medical concerns taken care of without the stress of financial worries,” he said.
